VW Polo TSI Range
The entry-level Polo TSI Trendline has all of the basic luxuries you’d expect from a modern car although the audio system is somewhat simpler. There’s also no centre armrest, smaller wheels and most often no alloys while the mirrors and door handles aren’t body-coloured.
Apart from a few technology features and niceties, the biggest difference between the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline is under the bonnet where the VW Polo TSI is currently available in a 1.0, 1.2-litre and a 2.0-litre derivative.
Compared to the conventional small-displacement engines with similar outputs, the turbocharged VW 1.0 TSI offers impressive performance with more torque on a wider range of engine speeds. With varying power outputs between models ranging from 70 to 85 kW, the engine on the Trendline and Comfortline works beautifully with 175 Nm of torque channelled to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Aside from the good overall performance and a claimed 4.5 L/100 km, the ride and handling are among the major highlights. It comes with loads of innovative technology and safety features, not to mention great comfort for the urban jungle and those longer journeys on the open road.
The interior is equally impressive with a modern but elegant simplicity throughout. It looks and feels like a premium brand with a perfect combination of soft-touch and harder plastics with a well-constructed cabin although some of the bigger TSI models feature a leather interior.
Seats are comfortable across the range with the driver’s seat manually height-adjustable so anyone can easily find the best driving position. Cruise control can be added as an optional extra on the base model but it does come with airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control and traction control.
In terms of practicality, the Polo TSI provides good boot space where the newer models measure 350 litres compared to the previously 280 litres. Also, the rear seat can split and fold in a 60:40 configuration for even more space when transporting bigger cargo.
Used VW Polo TSI Highline DSG For Sale
When searching for more powerful VW cars for sale, the Polo TSI Highline is a great choice. While offering much of the same from the Comfortline, it has a slightly different styling with larger headlamps, a resculpted front bumper, lower air intake and more chrome detailing around the fog lamps. The interior is typically Volkswagen with a neat and functional layout while the steering wheel looks good and adds a classier touch with audio and cruise control buttons.
Other new features include a revised climate control system, a driver alert system and an automatic post-collision braking system as standard. The latter, according to VW, “automatically initiates braking of the vehicle that has had an accident in order to prevent a subsequent collision”.
In terms of the engine, it does pack a bigger punch where the 1.2-litre delivers 81 kW at 5 500 rpm and 175 Nm of torque. The top speed is around 196 km/h while they claim fuel consumption of 5.1 l/100 km when driving optimally.
Used VW Golf 2.0 TSI R 4motion DSG (PA)
When it comes to the bigger sibling, the VW Golf 2.0 TSI R delivers a whopping 213 kW at 5 400 rpm and 380 Nm of torque for next-level performance. That said, it still offers incredible versatility with ample boot space, head and legroom while there’s comfortable seating for up to five people.
Once again, most of the features flow through from the Comfortline and Highline but it has a much sportier appearance and looks more like the Golf GTI. It comes standard with a spoiler, leather interior and alloy wheels with some of the features including ABS, EBD, air conditioner, climate control, auto windscreen wipers, all-around airbags, automatic lights, adjustable steering, cruise control and onboard computer among others.

Used VW Golf 7 2.0 TDI GTD DSG
Another stunning product from the German automaker is the Golf 7 TDI GTD which not only looks spectacular but also performs at a higher level. Essentially, a GTD has the full underpinnings of a Golf GTI regarding suspension and brakes, along with the interior and exterior. It also looks similar but underneath the bonnet, it has the Euro-Spec turbocharged diesel engine producing around 130 kW and 350 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox for better economy.
As with the other models on sale, the Golf TDI GTD also has plenty of cabin and boot space offering exceptional comfort with leather seats and interior.
