Used Isuzu Bakkies For Sale

The used Isuzu bakkies for sale at Group1 fall into two
series of bakkies, namely the KB Series and the
D-Max Series. Although distinctly different in many ways,
they are effectively the same type of commercial vehicle, simply of two
different generations.

The used Isuzu KB is based on the original D-Max generation,
and the current used Isuzu D-Max is the latest generation of
the bakkie sold by Isuzu globally. Both are extremely capable and make
excellent fleet vehicles as well as small business vehicles. Additionally,
they are packed full of safety and convenience features, which makes them
versatile and perfect for use as a family car in the double cab body variant.

have become as legendary as the Isuzu bakkie in South Africa. We at Group1
Cars are proud suppliers of quality used Isuzu bakkies, which
include all of the current
used Isuzu double cabs for sale, as well as all of the

Isuzu D-Max Series Bakkies – 3rd Generation
2021– Present

The third-generation Isuzu D-MAX took the beloved light
commercial vehicle (LCV) to new heights with upgrades in refinement,
quality, technology, and efficiency. This leap forward followed a
significant R1.2 billion investment in Isuzu’s Port Elizabeth plant in
2019, positioning D-Max as a top contender in the South African and
Sub-Saharan African markets.

The third generation of the D-Max offers 24 variants, featuring two
engine options, six trim levels (Standard, L, LS, LSE, V-Cross,
X-Rider), manual and automatic transmissions, and the choice of 4×2 or
4×4 drivetrains.

Isuzu’s 1.9-litre Ddi power plant comes standard on all single-cab
models, with availability on extended-cab and double-cab versions.
Meanwhile, the upgraded 3.0-litre Ddi engine offered on mid to
high-series extended cab and double cab models delivers more torque at
lower speeds, smoother acceleration, quieter operation, and improved
fuel efficiency.

In January 2024, the rugged X-Rider trim made a return to the D-Max
lineup, powered by the 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine. February
2024 saw the LS trim, equipped with the robust 3.0-litre turbocharged
diesel engine, becoming available in the single-cab body style.

Did You Know?
To celebrate 45 years of building bakkies in South Africa, Isuzu
unveiled the D-Max 45 Limited Edition double-cab. Only 105 units,
crafted at the Struandale plant in the Eastern Cape, were to be
available locally starting at the end of July 2024.

Isuzu KB Series Bakkies – 6th Generation
2013 – 2018

The final version of the Isuzu KB to roll off of the production
floor in South Africa was the sixth generation, which commenced
manufacturing in 2013. In 2017, the KB era came to an end with the
last Isuzu KB as a 2018 model. The good news is that there are
still many different year models available. If you are looking for
a used Isuzu KB bakkie, you are spoiled for choice, as every
generation has something special to offer.

The sixth generation saw the introduction of special edition
models like:

Midnite Edition: Introduced in August 2014,
celebrating over 20,000 units sold in South Africa. It featured
darkened exterior components and the top-spec 3.0-liter D-TEQ
engine.

Serengeti Special Edition: Launched in June 2015,
based on the KB 300 LX double cab. It was inspired by Africa’s
rugged beauty and featured Isuzu’s 3.0-liter D-TEQ engine.

X-Rider: First introduced in July 2016 as a
“special value model” based on the KB 250 Hi-Rider 4×2. It was
available in extended and double cab forms. The X-Rider became a
permanent fixture in the lineup by April 2017.

Isuzu KB Series Bakkies – 3rd Generation
1988 – 2002

The KB body design of the third generation (1988 – 2002) is where
everything started. Particularly, the KB 280 double-cab
derivatives leveraged ISUZU’s renowned diesel technology to
deliver a winning combination of power, supple ride quality, and
cabin comfort. All subsequent Isuzu KB bakkies for sale were based
on this design, which remains one of the most iconic. Due to its
rugged design, car-like cabin comfort, and reliability, this
generation is popular with many used Isuzu bakkie buyers today.

Spanning well over a decade, this generation of the KB bakkie
received a major facelift and feature upgrade in 1997. The updates
included a more rounded front-end design and a redesigned
dashboard, aligning it with ISUZU models sold globally at the
time.

Did You Know?
This generation of the ISUZU KB marked the debut of the
now-iconic KB double cab in South Africa. First introduced in
1993, it quickly became one of the country’s best-selling bakkie
body styles—a status it still holds today.

later.

ISUZU’s heritage in SA dates back to 1972 with the launch of its
first one-tonner, originally badged as the Chevrolet LUV. The
first generation Isuzu KB bakkie was the first to be manufactured
in South Africa at the Kempston Road plant in Port Elizabeth. The
first vehicle was produced in July 1978 and has been relied upon
by countless South Africans ever since.

In 1979, the lineup grew to include ISUZU’s first 4×4 variants.
