The fifth generation Renault Clio was unveiled at the Geneva Motor show in 2019 and released internationally the following year. It was launched in South Africa in 2021 as the ‘22 model, following the phenomenal success of the long-lived 4th generation.

The Clio V comes in three trim levels, the Life, Zen and Intens. You will get a comprehensive range of luxury and safety features, a nippy, fun drive and altogether great supermini.

All three share the same 1.0-litre turbo engine and 5-speed manual gearbox. This new engine gives 74kW and 160 Nm of torque, an improvement of 8kW and 20 Nm compared to the previous generation, and using 5.7 litres/100 km in a combined cycle.

Introduced at the 2012 Paris Motor Show with sales commencing a month later, the Fourth Generation Renault Clio took everything that was great about the previous generations of Clio Hatchbacks and made it better! Its already sterling fuel economy was improved, as was the reliability of ite engine choices. Stylish design calls were also made to make the car much more appealing than ever before, which has helped ensure that the popularity of the Clio in South Africa is bigger than ever before.

The current Clio IV also now features a new hands-free system, rear camera connectivity, the Renault R-Link 7-inch Infotainment System and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission in selected models.

Did You Know? The modern Clio is one of the safest cars that Renault has ever built and includes ABS, EBA Cruise control with Speed Limiter, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) as well as driver, passenger, front and side airbags with passenger airbag disable function as standard.

This was the first of the “next generation Clio” that took this popular vehicle into a different class. Considerably larger and more expensive than previous Clio model, it was unveiled to much fanfare at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show and was based on the Nissan B platform which was also used to produce the Renault Modus, the Nissan Micra and the Nissan Note. Shortly after launch it was awarded a 5-star Euro NCAP Safety Rating and was also voted in as the European Car of the Year for 2006.

Called the “great little car that should inspire bigger ones” in 2006, this Third Generation Renault Clio underwent a major facelift in 2009. This update included both improvements to the interior cabin as well as the addition of even more comfort and safety features.

Did You Know? This generation of Clio saw the introduction of the new Clio RS variant in 2009 (at the same time that the new facelift version of the Clio was launched), this hot hatch was intended to slot between the regular Clio and the Clio 182 RS, which it did so to great effect.

This was the first generation of Renault Clio to launch in South Africa, although globally it was the Second Generation Clio. This generation of Clio included a sedan version, which was sold for a short period of time in South Africa. This Renault Clio II was launched on the 9th of March 1998, and quickly became one of the biggest global sellers ever to be sold under the Renault name. It was so popular in fact that it underwent numerous facelifts and upgrades (referred to as phases) in:

Did You Know? Before there was the Clio RS there was the 3.0 Litre V6 Renault Clio built during this second generation of the Clio! This incredible engine put out 188 kW of power @ 7,150 rpm and 300 N⋅m of torque @ 4,650 rpm.
