The new Opel Corsa F was awarded the Autobest Best Value for Money Car in Europe, and is the only car to have won this award three times in a row.

It is also a safe car, with 4-stars in the demanding Euro NCAP test.
It is a 5-door compact hatch with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, available in both manual and automatic transmission.

There are three trim levels: the entry level Corsa, the Edition and the Elegance.

Although similar in size and function to the previous generation of Corsa (the underlying chassis and body structure are exactly the same), the Corsa E has an updated interior cabin and a slightly more refined exterior look. It was officially launched in 2014 at the Paris Motor Show to great acclaim. It is closely related to the Opel Adam, which is sold in South Africa, and many Adam driver’s upgrade to the Corsa when searching for a bigger more family orientated vehicle that is still affordable.

Did You Know? Along with all other generations of Opel Corsa, this current E range is NOT available to purchase in North America. This has not stopped it from being a top selling Opel model however, and it is known in the automotive industry for its global presence.

The Opel Corsa D was built using the SCCS Platform developed by Fiat, and was first sold in May of 2006. Right from the onset the Corsa D was destined for great things, and placed second in the European Car of the year Competition within months of its launch. Additionally, it was awarded 5-stars for its overall adult safety score during its Euro NCAP Safety Test.

In 2011 a small cosmetic facelift was made to the Corsas D range. Additionally there were new petrol and diesel engines added, which ensured that this generation of Corsa now fully complied with the latest (at the time) Euro 5 standards.

Did You Know? The Corsa D was briefly sold in Australia under the Opel brand name, which was a first for the country as Opel brands in Australia (much like the Opel brand in the UK selling as a Vauxhall) were always sold under the Holden name.

Revealed to the motoring world in 1999 and put on sale during the early part of 2000, this was the Corsa that took South Africa into the new Millenium. This generation included a Saloon version of the Corsa, which was exclusive to the South African and South American markets. There was also a Corsa Utility Bakkie (which is still a popular used vehicle) that was sold during this generation. This Corsa Utility was later rebranded as a Chevy Utility after this generation of vehicle was discontinued in 2006.

The Corsa C was voted as the Irish Car of the year in 2001. This version of the Corsa was discontinued 1 year later than the rest of the world in South Africa in 2007.

Did You Know? The Corsa C hatchback which was sold in South Africa did not have the same front fascia as the European Corsa. This was to keep the design stylings in line with the Chevrolet Corsa, which used the Latin American frontend design in the Corsa Sedan and Corsa Utility. This decision was made by GM South Africa.

In 1993 the New Corsa was released for sale globally, and for the first time in South Africa (the Corsa A was never sold here). Although there was no saloon version of the Corsa sold in Europe, there was a Opel Corsa B Saloon released in the mid 90’s for sale in both Latin America and Southern Africa, which was marketed under the Corsa Classic name. This generation of Corsa also included a small coupé, which was named the Opel Tigra.

Did You Know? The Corsa Hatchback B Generation was produced and sold in South Africa for a full 9 years after being discontinued globally. It was marketed as the Corsa Lite, and due to their popularity and reliability there are still many sold as Used Corsa vehicles to this day. The Corsa Lite was discontinued in 2009!
