Launched in South Africa in 2003 (and internationally 2 years before that in 2001), the Honda Jazz was an instant hit and fast became one of Japan’s best-selling cars both domestically and internationally. Because of this, the market for Quality Used Honda Jazz Vehicles is huge, with some of the Used Honda Jazz for Sale at Group1 selling before they even hit our showroom floor. This is thanks in part to their affordability, but their reliability, fuel economy, funky good looks and low running costs also play a major part in their popularity. Additionally, they are exceptionally fun to drive and have a funky nature that makes even the most mundane urban drives something to look forward to.
Known as the Honda Fit in its home country of Japan, the Used Honda Jazz Cars for Sale in South Africa are made up of the following four generations of cars:
4th Generation Honda Jazz – Honda Fit

---|---|
The Honda Jazz or Honda Fit is well into its 4th generation and remains exceptionally spacious, versatile, easy to get in and out of, and economical. It was first released in 2019 and is currently sold in Japan, Europe, China, Taiwan, South Africa, and Singapore. This Jazz supermini or hatchback is the first car in the current line-up to go hybrid-only. Its hybrid powertrain is known as the e:HEV which utilises Honda’s new dual-motor i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) hybrid system, replacing the previous Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive (i-DCD) setup. While the 4th generation Honda Fit still looks like a Jazz with the same type of design and styling but with a little more sass. At the front are split A-pillars for improved forward visibility with a pair of larger headlights and a more pronounced bumper compared to the old model. It’s available in different trim levels, the Comfort, Elegance and Executive with a 1.5-litre normally aspirated petrol engine delivering 89kW and 145Nm of torque driving the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. Honda claims fuel consumption figures of 5.5L/100km which is pretty impressive in today’s terms. The different models in the range include the following:

Although the overall layout and design concept is still similar to the previous two generations of Honda Jazz, there is a sporty new attitude found in the latest version of this popular hatchback that will have you clamouring for more, so don’t delay and book a test drive of one today. The Jazz is sold in 4 model variants in South Africa, namely the 1.2 Litre Trend, the 1.2 Litre Comfort, the 1.5 Litre Elegance and the 1.5 Litre Sport. Transmission options include both a CVT and a Manual transmission. The Honda Jazz 2018 Model received a slightly updated look with a new bumper and LED headlights with daytime running lights. One of the biggest differences between the third generation Honda Jazz and the first and second generations can be seen in the dimensions of the vehicle. These include a shorter length, longer wheelbase, increase legroom and increased passenger volume. Did You Know? The “Global Small Car Platform” that Honda uses to build this third generation of Jazz uses ultra-high strength 780 MPa yield steel in 27% of its bodywork. The Jazz’s body panels are both welded and bolted onto the vehicle’s frame using a fusion of monocoque and spaceframe. Additionally, the Jazz no longer utilises an anti-sway bar, which is why there is now more cabin and luggage space when compared to previous generations of New and Used Honda Jazz hatchbacks. |

2nd Generation Honda Jazz

Unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the Honda Jazz once again was awarded the title of Japanese Car of the Year within months of going on sale. For this generation, the entire Jazz chassis was re-engineered, and the structural rigidity of the vehicle was increased by a massive 164% when compared to the first generation Jazz. This new look and new build Honda Jazz offered an improved ride and handling profile, which made it exceptionally fun to drive. 2011 saw the introduction of a slightly updated version of the Jazz, with improved styling and better aerodynamics. This, along with improved engine modifications, helped improve the fuel consumption and carbon emission figures quite substantially over the earlier second-generation Jazz models. Did You Know? The second generation of Honda Jazz offered potential owners a longer wheelbase as well as a wider and longer body than the previous first generation vehicle. Because of this the cabin now featured an even bigger interior volume, however, the boot capacity decreased by 0.58 m3. |

Launched in South Africa two years after the global launch, the 2003 introduction of the Honda Jazz played a big part in putting the Honda Car Brand back on the vehicle sales map. It was available as the 1.3 i-DSI (which was badged as a 1.4 here in SA) and the 1.5 VTEC. Both engine types were offered with either a manual or CVT transmission option. Although not all models were sold in South Africa, the Jazz was sold in a number of different variations outside of the country. These included both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive (Japan only) options:
Did You Know? Not only did the first generation of Honda Jazz win the coveted Japanese Car of the Year Award within months of its 2001 launch, but within 6 months of going on sale, it had outsold the Toyota Corolla. By the end of 2002, it had also ranked first in sales for nine out of the twelve months of the year. |
