Both the hatchback version of the Rio and the sedan version of the Rio are available with both of these engine options.

With 4 generations of Kia Sedans under the belt, the 3rd generation which was launched in South Africa in 2012 was already a well respected vehicle in Europe, Asia and the America’s. It was an immediate hit with the local South African driving public and has gone on to become a regular sight on our showroom floors due to the ongoing demand for this Kia classic. Third Generation Kia Rio Sedan Officially launched on March 1, 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show, both hatchback and sedan models went on sale early in 2012 in South Africa. Engine options for the Kia Rio Sedan included a choice of both a 1.4 Litre petrol and a 1.6 Litre petrol engine. It was awarded a 4 Star Automotive Safety Rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Fourth Generation Kia Rio Sedan (Current) Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2016 and sold in South Africa since early 2018, this is the current generation of Kia Rio Sedan sold in South Africa. Did You Know? The 3rd generation Kia Rio was based on the same vehicle build platform as the Hyundai Accent, while the 4th generation Kia Rio is based on the same platform as the Hyundai i20.
